An Integral Part of Our Churches

[The paragraphs following are quoted extracts from letters and reports received from Reading Room librarians and church boards.]

A woman came into the Reading Room to buy her first copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. She told the librarian she had been reading the Sentinels which had been placed in the literature distribution box in the restaurant in which she worked. She said everything she had read in the Sentinels was good and "made sense." As she had read, her health had improved, she had given up smoking, and she was finding it easier to like people. She said she knew she would find studying our textbook a blessing, and helpful.

A former Sunday School pupil came into the Reading Room to ask how to help a non-Christian Scientist who was a dear friend and very ill. A long talk about Christian Science followed. Two weeks later he returned to buy a copy of Prose Works for his own study. He told the librarian he had drifted away from studying, but his first visit to the Reading Room and the helpful talk with the librarian had awakened and healed him. He said that he had been brought back to "the bedrock of Christian Science" and that he was determined not to drift again. There have been other instances of reawakening among men and women who for various reasons had become apathetic and neglectful of their study.
