Christian Science came to me...

Christian Science came to me unsought, a wondrous gift from God, and was guide, support, and comfort at a time when war had destroyed our home in Shanghai, broken up our family, and decimated our finances. Its radiance flooded my life as I began to attend church and read the literature.

The inspiration of our precious textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, carried me straight through the volume in great regenerating draughts of Truth, and each new Lesson-Sermon in the Christian Science Quarterly truly opened "the windows of heaven" and poured forth "a blessing, that there [was] not ... room enough to receive it." My daily life, in all the minutiae of refugee adjustment, was transfigured.

As months passed and membership in the local branch church and the privilege of teaching in the Sunday School blessed our lives, the ever-deepening perception of the harmony of reality was reflected again and again in our human conditions. Attractive lodgings were secured, transportation became easier, my teaching post was tripled. A dear friend joined me in the study of Christian Science. Our young son, who attended Sunday School, was instantaneously healed of a serious glandular infection and was quickly released from what appeared to be an attack of measles.
