SURE DEFENSE

"Watch your thinking." How often in our endeavors to practice Christian Science have we heard this admonition, and how frequently, it must be confessed, have we neglected to heed it! As a man "thinketh in his heart, so is he," we read in Proverbs (23:7), indicating that conduct, action, and character are all the direct outcome of thought.

Before taking up the study of Christian Science one may have felt that his personal beliefs were of small concern to other people or did little to affect them. What seemed to matter were appropriate words and bearing in the presence of others. But when one begins to understand something of the great truths contained in this Science, his whole outlook changes. He sees the importance of examining the quality of the thoughts he entertains. He recognizes that his mental realm cannot be invaded unless he gives consent. As he perceives that his true selfhood is a reflection of divine Mind and thus is God-equipped with all that is good and true, he will not be robbed of the right and ability to choose and cherish the good thoughts that emanate from this Mind and to reject and abandon all other, so-called thoughts. The significance of this and the fact that all good is divinely be stowed, the outcome of the one infinite divine Principle, Love, should not be overlooked.

For revealing to us such a majestic Deity, can we ever be grateful enough to Mary Baker Eddy, the most original and inspired thinker of this age? It was the depth and clarity of her spiritual, revolutionary thought that led her under God's guidance to give to the world this priceless Christ Science.
