RIGHT MOTIVES

RIGHT motives, being divinely impelled, are entirely free from any human sense of impetuosity. And because they are spiritually conceived they are externalized in human affairs in harmonious activity and in stable, well-balanced living.

The utterances and deeds of our Master, Christ Jesus, were ever motivated by holy purpose. in his prayer of unparalleled selflessness, found in the seventeenth chapter of John, he clearly defines the motivating purpose of his life, namely, that he glorify God, and himself as God's image and likeness; that he sanctify himself wholly, and that his followers, as well as all believers, might likewise be sanctified through the truth. This exemplary prayer, if studied and applied by all who really reverence the Master's teachings, will elevate their motives and deeds to spiritual loftiness hitherto unattainable.

The Master's matchless healing works were preceded by great spiritualization of consciousness. Repeatedly we read of his retirement to the Mount of Olives or to seclusion elsewhere in order that he might commune with his heavenly Father preparatory to the performance of his mighty acts. Having thoroughly imbibed the spirit and power of the divine healing Principle, Love, he was fortified to meet and master the fables of sense.
