"COME BEFORE THE LORD WITH SINGING"

The phone rang, and a friend said,
"Come before the Lord with singing."

The day was heavy, and the clouds hung low;
The earth itself seemed to have no singing,
But the voice said,
"Come before the Lord with singing."

Rumors of war,
Disaster, and whispering fear were rampant,
But the voice said,
"Come before the Lord with singing."

The people who know God,
Who know the good that fills the universe,
Must see that good right where they are;
Though clouds of sense roll heavily
And the mists make sight most dim,
The voice still says,
"Come before the Lord with singing."

There must be singing in the earth.
Hate will disappear,
Grief and loss and lack, anguish and distress,
Will vanish if we
Come before the Lord with singing.

War is not easy,
But if we know
Love's omnipresence,
By that insistence we shall
Come before the Lord with singing.

If love instead of hate,
Healing instead of strife,
Begin to blossom in the earth,
We shall be glad, so very glad,
That we have
Come before the Lord with singing.
