The answer to the above question is to be found on page 165 of "The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Miscellany" by Mary Baker Eddy, which reads:

"As an active portion of one stupendous whole, goodness identifies man with universal good. Thus may each member of this church rise above the oft-repeated inquiry, What am I? to the scientific response: I am able to impart truth, health, and happiness, and this is my rock of salvation and my reason for existing."

To identify oneself with that organization whose sole aim is to bring health, happiness, and blessing to humanity through a demonstrable understanding of God, gives to human life a nobler outlook, purpose, and aim.
