Christian Science Committees on Publication Report on RELATIONS WITH THE CLERGY

[From annual reports]

Maryland

It was reported to this office that a sermon attacking Christian Science would be delivered on a certain date.

The rector was interviewed, and he stated that he never attacked another religion from the pulpit. When the sermon was given, he began by saying that he probably had not made clear the subject of his sermon, for several had asked if he was going to preach against Christian Science. He went on to say that he never preached against any religion and that the Christian Scientists were doing a fine job. Then he asked the question, "When you think of healing, which church do you think of, Christian Science or this church?" He then dwelt upon the necessity for that church's obedience to Jesus' commands with regard to healing.
