Cured of bronchitis, nervous indigestion. Grateful for protection

Whenever I pause to contemplate what my life might have been without Christian Science, I wonder if I can ever be grateful enough that it was presented to my parents while I was still a child, I had ten years of Sunday School attendance, which gave me a good foundation on which to build a happy and useful life.

My parents considered me delicate, subject to bronchitis and severe colds. But my Sunday School training showed me man's freedom as a child of God, perfect and spiritual; and when I was able to realize that man is not subject to any discordant condition and therefore I need not identify myself with bronchitis, I was healed.

Some years after leaving Sunday School, I had a difficulty which might have been called nervous indigestion. My family were still only casually interested in Christian Science and insisted on taking me to a doctor. He found nothing very wrong with me, but I felt no better. For a few months I struggled along in misery, ashamed that I had allowed myself to be influenced away from the truth and wondering how I could return to it. This was the darkest period of my life. I realized then what Christian Science really meant to me. Without it I had no peace, as well as no health.
