Seeing the unreality of a dream brings awakening to truth of being
WAKING UP IS THE WAY OUT
As one listens to the testimonies given at the Wednesday testimony meetings in Churches of Christ, Scientist, or reads those printed in the Christian Science periodicals, it is most interesting to learn just how each individual was led to accept Christian Science, for this is always a completely individual experience. Many have turned from the depths of sorrow and affliction to this science for comfort and healing. Today false theories about material existence are breaking up, and many sincere thinkers have reached Mary Baker Eddy's conclusion that "mortal existence is an enigma" (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p. 70). Some of these have been led in their search for the truth to the contemplation of immortal spiritual existence, which has been revealed to the world in this textbook.
In the course of her study of Christian Science one such seeker found that various difficulties, physical and otherwise, began to drop away. Once having experienced the joy of spiritual healing, it was unthinkable for her to return to material methods. Yet when serious troubles presented themselves, she was not quite sure that they too would vanish, and it seemed rather difficult for her not to keep looking to see if they were still evident. Suddenly she saw that her imperious need was to grasp the practical healing truths of this Science of being and apply them.
The student was led to look up Mrs. Eddy's many references to dreams, and as she did so a childhood nightmare came vividly to thought. It had seemed so real to her that she was afraid to play in the yard or cross the driveway. In this dream she had been playing on the garage floor when she heard her father driving over the fields, up the lane, and into the driveway. Before she was able to move or cry out, the car drove into the garage, and just as it was about to run over her, she wakened in panic.
