A brother tenderly and scientifically cares for the needs of his little sister

BEGINNERS CAN HEAL

[Of Special Interest to Young People]

Christopher had just graduated from high school and had begun to study Christian Science. He was very earnest in his study because he had been beautifully healed simply by reading one of the Christian Science periodicals in the public library. As he studied, his desire to share this great truth with others grew, and it was not long before he had an opportunity to do so right in his own family.

Nancy, the youngest member of the family and a happy, sweet youngster, was running home from school one day when she fell and ran a pencil into her hand. Their parents, not being students of Christian Science, took her to a surgeon for the removal of the lead, but the wound did not heal, and the child's hand swelled far beyond its normal size.

When Christopher saw how his little sister seemed to be suffering, he had a great desire to help her. So he took her on his lap, and glimpsing in a measure the all-power and ever-presence of God, who is Love, he said: "Divine Love does not include suffering of any kind. Therefore, not one of God's ideas can suffer. This isn't the will of divine Love." Thus he began his first Christian Science treatment.
