Growth disappears when thought is lifted

A testimony of mine was published over ten years ago, telling of my early experiences in Christian Science. My heartfelt gratitude for all the blessings I have received since I accepted the wonderful gift of Christian Science compels me to share them with others. I shall never forget how I felt when I first realized what it was really to live, after I started to study Science earnestly and got a glimpse of life beyond matter.

I came to this Science because a neighbor attracted my attention by her quietness and peacefulness. Although a young friend who was staying with me was healed of whooping cough in one treatment and I accepted Christian Science, I did not start to study it wholeheartedly at once. After some months my son was healed in one treatment of chronic bronchitis, from which he had suffered since the age of two. After this healing my young friend and my son both attended Sunday School and since then have become members of The Mother Church and of a branch church. They are now married and have two little boys who, to my joy, also attend the Sunday School.

From the time my son was healed, I turned wholeheartedly to the study of Christian Science and was healed of rheumatism, a stiff foot, constipation, and sick headaches, from all of which I had suffered for years. Only the fear of cancer did not go at once. One of my sisters and my mother-in-law had passed on with this disease many years before, and I had always been afraid of it. Some years before I came to Christian Science, a growth appeared on my body, and I suffered severe pain from it. The last time I visited a surgeon, he told me to consult a specialist on account of this growth, although he did not mention the name of the disease. At once I said to myself, "Never!"
