MOTIVE POWER

"What makes the world go round?" is a question which has engaged the thinking of mankind generally. For many years men have sought to perfect a perpetualmotion machine, but such efforts are doomed to failure from the outset for the reason that no machine can ever return more energy than is given to it.

When the Psalmist, as a clear October 15, 1949] transparency for Truth, said (62:11), "God hath spoken once; twice have I heard this; that power belongeth unto God," he indicated the true source and nature of motive power.

Mary Baker Eddy records in her textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," the fact that power stemming from deific Mind is solely spiritual in both cause andeffect. In the Glossary of this textbook our Leader thus defines God (p. 587): "The great I AM; the all-knowing, all-seeing, all-acting, all-wise, all-loving, and eternal; Principle; Mind; Soul; Spirit; Life; Truth; Love; all substance; intelligence."
