Belle Fourche, South Dakota (Society).

The new building of Christian Science Society, Belle Fourche, was dedicated Sunday, April 24, 1949.

One of its attractive features is the steeple lantern, which sheds a beautiful light not only within the entrance but throughout the vicinity of the church. The cornerstone was laid on March 26, 1948.

In 1924 Belle Fourche residents interested in Christian Science met in homes of the community. In 1930 the group rented a hall over the Butte County Bank and later moved to the I.O.O.F. Hall. In 1931 they organized and became a Christian Science Society, a branch of The Mother Church, The First Church of Christ, Scientist, Boston, Massachusetts. A house on Eighth Avenue, near the post office, was purchased in 1933, remodeled and used for services until it was sold in 1946, when the lot for the new building was bought.
