Humble gratitude to God for...

Humble gratitude to God for blessings received through the ministrations of Christian Science over a period of many years impels me to offer my testimony. In our home we have witnessed instantaneous healings of so-called children's diseases, ptomaine poisoning, bleeding gums, and numerous other forms of error.

Each winter for a number of years I was seldom free from colds, and in the summertime the malady took the form of hay fever. These trying experiences were accompanied by a distressing condition of congestion of the lungs, and at times I was so fearful that it seemed as though each breath would be my last. A member of my family, who remained with me night and day, refused to be alarmed at the physical picture. Her absolute trust in God and His allness gave me fresh courage to press on in my endeavor to realize my perfection as a child of God. I am grateful for the loving work of the practitioners and for the love and encouragement given me by members of my family during this testing time. The healing was slow, but it was necessary that much regeneration take place in my thinking. Resentment, impatience, irritation, and other kindred traits had to give way and be replaced by calmness, patience, tolerance, and forbearance.

Many years ago a strong solution of concentrated lye boiled up into my face, completely covering the left side, including my eye. For a short time the pain was intense, but the first thought which came to me was from the definition of eyes which Mrs. Eddy gives us in Science and Health (p. 586): "Spiritual discernment,—not material but mental." I realized that I needed more spiritual discernment. The day was spent in filling my mental storehouse with the truth which heals and frees. The angry evidence soon disappeared, and on the fourth day no trace of the experience could be found. This was another opportunity to say, "Thank You, God."
