WINNING THE PRIZE

[Of Special Interest to Young People. Original article in Swedish]

"Mind, joyous in strength, dwells in the realm of Mind. Mind's infinite ideas run and disport themselves. In humility they climb the heights of holiness." Mary Baker Eddy writes on page 514 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures."

Each one of God's ideas expresses joyous strength and activity, rejoicing in all the ways in which its own individuality reflects the perfect, harmonious activity of Spirit. In the proportion that this spiritual fact is perceived, is true activity manifested in human experience.

One of the many ways in which joyous activity may be expressed is in sports. Sports, including contests, call forth such qualities as alertness, intelligence, vigor, dominion, keenness of perception, quickness of decision, action, and judgment. The training demands patience, willingness to learn, perseverance; and in the actual contest, humility, generosity, unselfish joy in the success of others. It is our privilege to know that because the one Mind governs, the other contestants also reflect these qualities, and that divine Principle, represented in wisdom and justice, governs the decisions of umpires or judges.
