Of Good Report

Much good has come from the Christian Science work in prisoner of war camps in England. This work was started by the Christian Science Wartime Activities of The Mother Church (London Branch) just before that Committee was discontinued in April, 1947, and since has been carried on under the supervision of the District Manager of Committees on Publication.

There are over 130 German prisoner of war camps in different parts of England where Christian Science literature is being distributed. The churches and societies nearest the camps carry on this work through their Literature Distribution Committees, sometimes aided by supplies from other churches. Monthly reports show a steady increase in this distribution.

From May to October, 1947, 341 copies of The Christian Science Journal, 2066 of the Sentinel, 9724 of The Christian Science Monitor. and 618 of The Herald of Christian Science (German Edition) were distributed. For the benefit of those who do not read English, The Mother Church has supplied 30 gift sets of German Bibles and the German translation of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, together with 50 copies of each issue of the Christian Science Quarterly in English and German.
