HURRICANE HOURS
The
hedge rose held against the blast,
Above the frail fence bars,
Reflecting Love's omnipotence
Like firmament of stars.
Elijah, like the rose, withstood
Upon the mount so high:
He heard the still, small voice of Truth
And watched the storm pass by.
Elijah and the rose have shown
How we with equal poise
May hear the message of God's peace
Subdue the whirlwind's noise.
When blasts of evil rage and storm,
Love's child need never fear.
God's law and power in stillness reign;
His Christ is ever near.
