MAN IS GOD'S REFLECTION

Mary Baker Eddy , who discovered Christian Science and founded the Christian Science movement, made a profound contribution to humanity's understanding of man and of his relationship to his Maker when she revealed man to be the reflection of God. The demonstrations of harmony and health which invariably follow an understanding of this revelation prove the error of mankind's belief that man is a physical personality, dependent upon flesh for life and possessing a private mind through which good and evil ebb and flow with the mood of the individual.

The term "reflection" may be said to have two distinct implications. First, it implies something that is tributary, something having source, origin, or Principle. That is to say, it is not self-existent. It is effect, never cause. Secondly, it presents an exact likeness of its original.

Many spiritually illuminating aspects of reflection may be gained by a careful study of the term in the writings of Mrs. Eddy. One such aspect shows man to be the emanation, outcome, or radiation of divine Mind, similar in a sense to the rays of light energy which pour forth from the sun. Another aspect portrays man's precise similarity to his Maker, likened by Mrs. Eddy to an object reflected in a mirror, lake, or camera.
