JESUS THE CHRIST

Fanny de Groot Hastings

He was not trapped by human birth,
Son of a virgin, Jesse's rod.
He walked in heaven upon earth;
He knew that he was come from God.

He was not snared by final death,
By sleep, by sealing stone and sod.
He knew the source of every breath;
He came from God and went to God.

There is no first or last to one
Who is, to one who understands.
The Father, who enfolds the son,
Has given all into his hands.
