THE OPEN DOOR, THE WAY OF SALVATION

"Cease bruising your wings, little bird,
The door is open wide
For you to pass outside—
Ah, free at last, little bird!"
How absurd it should have tried to pass
Through the wall.
Its eyes were open,
Yet it could not see the way
For so long.
Tomorrow it may sing outside the door,
As it has sung before,
Its rapture song!
"And you, bruised child,
Can you not yet see the way?
Stop buffeting yourself against material walls,
There is an open door that God has set
To freedom and triumphant madrigals!"
