Of Good Report

Two women of the staff of The Christian Science Monitor, on a recent trip to the Scandinavian countries, Finland, the Netherlands, and England, attended services in Norwegian, Swedish, and Dutch as well as English. Because of travel schedules, they were unable to attend a service in Denmark, where the Lesson-Sermon is read, of course, in Danish. In Finland, Swedish is used.

Northern Europe was still in the midst of winter, and it was no surprise for them to see the women Readers stand behind their desks with fur coats or capes over their shoulders and sometimes overshoes on their feet. There was little fuel, and the buildings were often quite cold, but the services went on just the same with the simplicity and dignity characteristic of Christian Science services the world over.

In Oslo, Norway, a large, pleasant house which was bought just before the war has been remodeled to accommodate the church services on the first floor and the Reading Room and salesroom upstairs.
