HIS PRESENCE

God's healing presence and enfolding care
Are with me every moment, everywhere.
I feel His gracious touch,
And fear is stilled, and aching of unrest.
He speaks, and as I listen, thought attuned,
Humility uplifts her radiant face
Where only yesterday
Appeared the gloomy visage of self-will.

I am so very safe in His dear care,
For in His presence lies the mystery
Of blended power and tenderness of Love:
Of that vast power which holds
A thousand million suns in easy rein
And guides them through immensity of space;
Of tenderness that frames and cherishes
The sweet minutiae of a fragile flower.

The promise is of old,
"My presence shall go with thee"—precious word
That lifts me high, beyond time's thrashing sea—
My Father's pledge for all eternity.
