Leave All for Christ

Leave all for Christ, all bitterness and pain,
And petty envy of thy brother's gain;
     Leave these for Christ.

All wounded feelings at another's sin,
And stubborn holding of a grudge within—
     Leave these for Christ.

The empty triumphs of the human mind,
With fetters self-inflicted, self-entwined—
     Leave these for Christ.

Leave anxious planning, which obscures the light,
And gain the glory of the heavenly height,
     Where dwells the Christ.
