From the Directors

An Item of Interest published in the Christian Science Sentinel of April 6, 1946, called attention to the fact that branch Churches of Christ, Scientist, which had been holding meetings preceding or following the Wednesday evening testimony meetings, or on Sunday, because of wartime restrictions, should now discontinue them whenever possible. It was not intended to interfere with an occasional meeting of a committee or board of trustees, if there were a particular need which made such a meeting necessary.

In localities where the members of a branch church or society are scattered and live a considerable distance from the church, or where the use of a building is not available at other times, it may be necessary for an executive board, a committee, or the membership of a branch church to convene either before or after the Wednesday evening meeting.

The question of when to hold its business meetings is one for each branch church to decide, and the particular circumstances in the local field need to be considered. Whenever possible, it is to the best interest of branch churches to conduct their affairs without holding such meetings before or after church services, provided this can be worked out without too much inconvenience to those concerned.
