Verity

Confused
When those we love
Pass from our view, we pray,
Protest death's presence; turn to God
As light;

Then, seen
From depth of grief,
From darkness of earth's night,
Stars radiant glow which never day
Disclosed.

Dawn comes.
The stars remain,
Each in its place, though hid
From sight. Should we shed tears, claiming
Them gone?

The dawn
Ne'er changed the stars,
Nor night the sun. So God,
Unchanging in His love, maintains
His own.
