Extracts from Reports of Christian Science Committees on Publication

North Carolina

We recognize with much gratitude the continuing friendliness of the public press. Not a single derogatory statement regarding Christian Science or our Leader appeared in the press during the year. A minister, from the pulpit of one of the largest orthodox churches in the state, said, "I can honestly tell you that if you will read the first chapter, on Prayer, in 'Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures' by Mary Baker Eddy, you will find things there that you can appreciate and appropriate."

During the year we have released something like thirty-two hundred Lesson-Sermon excerpts, thirty-three hundred "Gems of Thought" quotations, twelve hundred religious articles, and many other items of dignified publicity. Twenty-five papers carried our Mother Church Annual Meeting and Thanksgiving service reports. Literally thousands of quotations from The Christian Science Monitor are reprinted with due credit. Of the nineteen lectures delivered in the state this year, three were printed in full, and substantial reports were given of all others.
