The encouraging, strengthening...

The encouraging, strengthening influence of a testimony of healing in Christian Science prompts me to relate an experience which I had about two years ago.

I was visiting in a distant city when I sustained a fall in which my right shoulder joint was broken. I had never had a broken bone before, but I felt sure this was a break because of the sensation I had whenever I attempted to move my arm. There was never a moment of doubt in my consciousness as to God's ability to bring about the healing, and to this fearless confidence in God, I attribute the results which followed.

I asked for Christian Science treatment, and in less than two weeks I was able to make the journey home to New Orleans, a distance of twelve hundred miles, with very little discomfort and no ill effects. Some weeks later, for the sake of those near me who were somewhat doubtful, I had an X ray taken. The nationally known surgeon and bone specialist under whose supervision the picture was taken, and who explained it to me, pointed out the perfectly set, knitted, and healed joint, and declared that in his opinion the bone must have been broken years before, so completely had the restoration taken place. As Mrs. Eddy says in Science and Health (p. 402), "Christian Science is always the most skilful surgeon, but surgery is the branch of its healing which will be last acknowledged."
