Seeing Man Aright
How important it is in these days of world adjustment that we see our fellow man aright. In fact, the solution of all individual, national, and world problems depends upon seeing man as he really is: the perfect child of God, made in His own image and likeness. Then truly to know man, we must first know God.
Christian Science teaches that God is Life, Truth, Love, Principle, the only source, the only creator; that all things are made by Him; that He sees all that He makes and it is "very good." As we realize that God creates man spiritual and perfect, after His own image and likeness, expressing the qualities of His own nature, and that He is the only creator, we see and acknowledge man's true selfhood. To see man aright, we must turn away from the physical form called man, with all its frailties, from material personality and human environment, and discover the qualities and conditions of thought which constitute the reflection of God, among which are justice, mercy, wisdom, goodness, patience, love. This is true manhood. We do not make man spiritual and perfect. Through spiritual sense we discover that man is spiritual and perfect now.
God being the universal Father, all men are brethren. There is in reality no other relationship between men than that of brotherhood. This fact must be seen and demonstrated. The Bible tells us that God is of purer eyes than to behold evil. Then it follows that man, the offspring of God, cannot behold evil. You can never see yourself or your fellow man as God creates you until you recognize man's necessity to express God's nature.
