"Actions speak louder than words"

[Of Special Interest to Young People]

One day many years ago, before Christian Science was as generally known as it now is, a little girl came home from school crying bitterly. "The children at school teased me about Christian Science," she told her mother, "and they do it every day. What shall I say back to them?" she asked.

Very wisely and lovingly her mother replied: "You don't need to say anything back to them. You need never argue about your religion. You only need to live it. Then, if you really live it, you will find that everyone you meet will learn to respect Christian Science, and there will be no more teasing. Instead, some of the persecutors of today will become the Christian Scientists of tomorrow."

This advice helped that little girl through some rather trying ordeals in school and college, and has continued to do so in the years that have followed. She has found it to be absolutely true that living one's religion is the surest and best way of preaching it. "Actions speak louder than words." the old saying goes.
