With the desire that others may...
With the desire that others may benefit by my experience and receive the blessings I have received since Christian Science came into my life I give this testimony.
I was in a very nervous condition brought about by great fear, and daily prayed to God to heal me. One night, as I was praying, a great sense of peace came to me and for months after this I was quite free and seemed lifted above the ordinary trifles of everyday experience. But I had been healed by faith without understanding, and gradually fear crept in and I became worse than before. At length I was forced to give up my position, and then my mother voiced a thought she had held for some time. She asked me to see a friend who had taken up the study of Christian Science and who had at times told her something of the truth. I had not the slightest idea what I was going to hear, but would have gone anywhere to find relief.
During the first talk with this friend, who, I learned afterwards, was a practitioner, I was instantaneously healed. I found that as an idea of God it was my birthright to be well and happy, and that, as Paul tells us in II Timothy, "God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind." It was as though a veil had been torn from my eyes. I knew that I had found God whom I could love and understand, and that Christian Science was the truth.
