From my early teens to the...
From my early teens to the present time, Christian Science has held before me the high goal of steadfast reliance upon divine power. A deep cut in the tip of a finger was healed instantaneously when I turned from the inclination to faint to the demand to go about my Father's business. Self and body were forgotten. Thirty minutes later a thin white line was all that remained to show where the cut had been.
What was believed by my family to be appendicitis was healed quickly, leaving a clean, spiritualized consciousness, new to my experience. An attack of grippe once threatened to keep me from enjoying a highly anticipated dancing party. A Christian Science practitioner lovingly assured me that my Father wished all joy for His child, and that I should be able to attend. With my mother's help in dressing, I started out. Long before the happy evening's conclusion I was free and well. The memory of this healing remained for me a promise that whatever was right, either pleasure or duty, nothing could hinder.
For guidance in friendships and protection from harmful associations during the busy school years away from home, and later in a musical profession. I thank God.
