Moral Courage in the Service

All Christian Scientists rejoice in the constructive work of The Mother Church Camp Welfare Activities, through which friends, acquaintances, and loved ones in the service, both at home and abroad, can find spiritual supply, guidance, and healing.

The translation from normal civilian life to service in the armed forces necessitates readjustments, the solving of new types of problems, and the facing of the possibility of actual service at the fighting front. Probably under no other condition in human experience will one find so great a need for, or greater blessings from, the healing, protecting, uplifting Christ, Truth. Expressions of joyous gratitude from many of those in the service attest to the blessings in store for all who will avail themselves of the privileges which are offered through Christian Science Wartime Activities.

It is the desire of the Wartime Ministers and their co-workers to meet all who are interested in Christian Science, and they spare neither time nor effort in searching out those who are registered as Christian Scientists, and those whose names have been sent in by relatives and friends. However, there apparently are many young men and women in the service whose interest in this Science is not made known, and the question naturally arises as to their motive in hesitating to acknowledge their belief in and acceptance of its teachings. Such hesitancy might result from a lack of appreciation of the high place in world opinion this religion has attained and the deep regard and respect almost universally held for it by thinking people, or from a lack of understanding of what one loses in not aligning oneself with the Cause and its activities.
