Keeping Spiritually Fit

[Of Special Interest to Youth]

Once again large numbers of young people have been called to leave peacetime pursuits for the business of waging war. They have responded to this call full of courage, many with a deep faith in God, confident that they are participating in a righteous cause.

It is imperative that the Christian Scientist should come forward not only physically fit, but spiritually fit as well; for by keeping spiritually fit he is able to see through and beyond the mortal, material seeming to the eternal spiritual reality and actuality of divine Life and being. Gaining and holding to this exalted view, he achieves a sense of his own immediate safety, and at the same time adds the weight of his scientific understanding of God to the prayers of the world for the speedy end of the war and the establishment of a just and lasting peace.

The rules of Christian Science for keeping spiritually fit demand that we hold steadfastly to the true idea of God and man as revealed in the teachings of the Bible and the writings of Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science. The daily study of the Lesson-Sermon in the Christian Science Quarterly, including as it does passages from the Bible and from Mrs. Eddy's work, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," will serve as a sure reminder of the rules for demonstration that need to be observed in a given situation. The law of God is as omnipresent and available to us as is God Himself.
