Lt. Col. Robert E. Key, District Manager of Committees on Publication for Great Britain and Ireland The Guardian, London, England

A doctor, writing in your recent issue, mentions Christian Science. He admits that it is "the most successful system of spiritual healing that the world has ever seen." He says, however, very little about this "most successful system," and what he does say is misleading and confusing.

First, let me say that Christian Science has nothing in common with mesmerism, will power, or suggestion, as the doctor seems to believe. It is not the influence of one human mind upon another, nor is it based on the mutability of materialism. Christian Scientists make no apology for using the term "Science" in connection with Christianity. It is the materialist who should hesitate in styling himself a "scientist," because in dealing with material phenomena he is dealing with conditions which are mutable and subject to change and fluctuation.
