Washington, District of Columbia (Second Church).

The dedication of Second Church of Christ, Scientist, Washington, District of Columbia, located at 111 C Street, Northeast, took place on Sunday, June 25, 1944. Dedicatory services were held in the morning, afternoon, and evening.

This church was incorporated forty-five years ago. In 1920 a site for a church edifice was purchased on the edge of the enlarged Capitol Grounds, across from the Senate Office Building. One of the residences on the property was converted into a church edifice, and on Easter Sunday of 1924 the first service was held by the church at its new location.

During the years since the site was purchased, the building fund has grown steadily, with the result that the entire indebtedness on the property has recently been met. This has enabled the board of trustees to remodel and redecorate the building and to demolish the other buildings on the property, preparatory to building a permanent edifice as soon as wartime restrictions are relaxed.
