The Joy of Testimony Giving
To give praise to God for His great goodness to His children is the Christian Scientist's blessed privilege. The fresh, spontaneous thought which is filled with gratitude pours forth its thanks as a joyous lark sings its matin lay on a bright, sunny morning in spring. A heart which is filled with gratitude knows no hindering beliefs that might prevent a recognition of divine provision.
A mortal sense of things argues that one is self-conscious or limited in expression. In the sunlight of Truth these arguments which would impose themselves on mankind, fettering its capacities, are seen as myths, which are no part of man, the expression of Mind.
The binding belief called self-consciousness, would, if accepted, obstruct the progress of mankind. But the consciousness that God's ideas alone constitute man and compose his real selfhood, gives strength and freedom to expression, and the realization of this fact of being precludes forever a separate selfhood in matter, a self-conscious selfhood, for God could not make a self apart from Himself, nor could He impart embarrassment, fear, or inertia.
