"Let your light so shine"

Many people first learn of Christian Science during their search for the healing of disease or for the correction of other inharmonious conditions. As the healing truth begins to unfold to them, their conscientious study of the Bible and of the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, soon brings them to the point where in their gratitude they earnestly desire to share this gift, to have their part in preaching "the gospel to every creature." This is a normal and beautiful development. Through such individual activity the healing gospel has been carried to people in every part of the world.

Christian Science is a religion of Love. It is expressed in loving, individual service, and, happily, this service may be rendered while we are engaged in our normal occupations. We must strive constantly to express in our daily living only those characteristics which reflect Truth and Love. This is our individual responsibility; our practice of Truth is our sermon. Jesus commanded, "Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven." And Mrs. Eddy, on page 4 of Science and Health, says, "To keep the commandments of our Master and follow his example, is our proper debt to him and the only worthy evidence of our gratitude for all that he has done."

But when may we find time from our many daily duties to serve mankind? We do not need to find time away from them; we can make them the testimony of our service. Each moment of our waking hours we can reflect Truth and Love as we go about our work.
