It is now fifteen years since Christian Science first found me at a time when my need was very great, and when I seemed to be faced with a position of hopelessness. I was weary with the struggle to achieve that which never came to fruition, and filled with vain regrets for the past and a desperate fear of the future.

Its presentation came to me in burst of light, "above the brightness of the sun, shining round about me" (Acts 26:13), which remained with me in all its brilliancy for a period of three weeks. During the subsequent years this sense of spiritual illumination has shone through many dark periods, bringing healing in all its forms, such as freedom from the drinking and smoking habits; from chronic catarrh of the stomach and head of twenty years' standing, pneumonia, synovitis in both knees, hemorrhoids of long and painful duration, constipation, kidney and liver trouble, the result of drinking alcoholic spirits, and numerous other difficulties. Some of the healings were instantaneous.

Although Christian Science has brought me all these blessings, and taught me through its revealed truth how to experience the joy of thinking correctly, it is only now that I am really beginning to understand clearly the revelator of this truth, Mary Baker Eddy, and the place she rightly occupies, not only in the movement she founded, but in the world.
