I should like to relate a few of...
I should like to relate a few of the outstanding blessings we have received through the study of Christian Science.
About five years ago, when our son was six months old, I became a sufferer from inflammatory rheumatism. One day, after I had been ill about a week, I felt so tired that I gave up the fight. Then I heard my husband and my mother, who were faithfully staying with me, calling to me, but I could not answer. My mother kept repeating to me, "God is Life and that Life is my life," and urged me to say it until I could repeat the whole sentence alone, and then she said, "Live for your son's sake." From then on I kept getting better, but I had to have someone do my work.
A friend who was helping me with this trial quoted to me from "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy (p. 571): "Know thyself, and God will supply the wisdom and the occasion for a victory over evil. Clad in the panoply of Love, human hatred cannot reach you." Several months later there was a Christian Science lecture given here, to which I went hoping to receive the rest of the healing. The lecturer said, "First we must detect the error, then reject it, and then know the nothingness of it all." This sentence kept ringing in my ears for a long time afterward, and by pondering over the meaning of it I received my complete healing, and have been well ever since, for which I am very grateful.
On page 162 of Science and Health Mrs. Eddy writes, "Christian Science brings to the body the sunlight of Truth, which invigorates and purifies." And in the same paragraph she says that Science "relaxes rigid muscles." These sentences helped me one fall when I was subject to frequent attacks of backache, and at the end of two weeks I was completely healed.
Several winters ago I fell on the ice and broke my elbow. I repeated two paragraphs from Science and Health (p. 424), starting with the words, "Accidents are unknown to God," and got up and kept right on with my duties. It was about six months before and arm was completely healed and straight, but the condition never caused any pain.
I am very grateful for the protection and guidance we received when looking for a dwelling place. I am also thankful for healings of measles and whooping cough, when my daughter was eight months old, and of bowel trouble, and for help experienced during childbirth.
I am grateful for our periodicals; for the Sunday school, which I had the privilege of attending and which my son is now enjoying; for membership in The Mother Church and also in a branch church; for Christ Jesus, and for Mrs. Eddy's great work.—(Mrs.) Irene Mueller, Marshfield, Wisconsin.
I wish to corroborate the testimony of my daughter. She is the eldest of seven children, and it was a great help to me to have all the children have the privilege of learning the truth taught in Sunday School.
I was healed of rheumatism twenty-one years ago by reading Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. I burned the pills I had at the time, and have never taken any medicine since.
This great truth has met all our needs and has been the great Physician in bringing up my family all these years.
I feel grateful to Mrs. Eddy for all she did for mankind, for membership in The Mother Church and in a branch church, and for class instruction.—(Mrs.) Wilhelmina Frey.
