Among the Churches

Current Notes

Murfreesboro, Tennessee (First Church).—Morning and afternoon services marking the dedication of First Church of Christ, Scientist, Murfreesboro, were held on Sunday, April 19, 1942. These services, which were identical, signalized the freedom from debt of the new church edifice. In addition to the regular order of the Sunday service, the First Reader read a brief history of the organization.

As far back as 1917, a small group of earnest seekers after Truth began meeting in private homes on Sunday mornings for the reading and study of Christian Science.

Interest grew and numbers increased to the extent that in March, 1925, a Christian Science Society was organized, by-laws were adopted, and Christian Science Society, Murfreesboro, Tennessee, became a branch of The Mother Church, The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts.
