A Young Soldier Prays

Dear Father, I am ready to defend
My country in her present hour of need;
Help me prepare my heart, that I may spend
My energies in ways where Thou dost lead.

Within Thy guidance there will always be
The sure protection of Thy saving power;
The courage, strength, and wisdom given me
Are proof that Thou art with me every hour.

My sword of Truth will challenge greed and hate,
Not warring with mere blinded fellow men;
Thus right will triumph soon, instead of late,
And earth will find true harmony again.
