Information which has been received indicates that in some parts of the Field there is need for a clearer understanding of the scope of the activities being carried on by Christian Science War Relief Committees in connection with The Mother Church War Relief Fund as distinguished from the more recently established Christian Science Camp Welfare Activities.
Our War Relief Fund, the opening of which was announced in June, 1940, can be used "for food and clothing to relieve human suffering," and is a means of extending aid through our own committees or other approved agencies to Christian Scientists and others in some of the countries which are at war. This work is carried on with the co-operation of Christian Science War Relief Committees in conformity with the provisions of the United States Neutrality Act of 1939, which limits the purposes for which money may be collected or received in this country for relief to be administered in countries declared to be belligerents. It has proved to be very helpful to needy persons who could be reached in war-ridden areas.
