I feel it a privilege and duty to add my testimony to...
I feel it a privilege and duty to add my testimony to the many given in the Christian Science periodicals. I have enjoyed and benefited by these testimonies for many years, and should feel very ungrateful if I did not contribute mine with the hope of helping others in need. I have witnessed healings of a great many phases of error and have been blessed by many healings of physical disorders as well as the overcoming of unpleasant traits of character.
The most outstanding of all my healings came when I was preparing for class instruction. Error tempted me in various ways to think that I was not ready for that progressive step. Finally I had a fall which seemed to bruise and cripple almost every part of my body. I was greatly disturbed, for I was not only being kept from various church duties, but feared I should not be able to make the trip. Even in my disturbed state of thought, I was able to overcome some of the pain before retiring that night, but enough lingered to keep me awake, suffering both physically and mentally. I could not seem to raise my thought, until, just as the clock struck three, I heard the twittering of little birds outside the window. I opened my eyes to see if it could possibly be daybreak. I saw the first faint light of dawn, and immediately the story came to my thought of Jacob wrestling all night with error and how at dawn his thought was lifted. While I lay there pondering that story, I went to sleep, to awaken at seven o'clock healed. I shall never forget that wonderful experience and the spiritual uplifting which came to my consciousness. I knew then that I was ready for class instruction.
I credit my strength and ability to overcome evil, and my unwavering faith in the power of good, to the splendid teaching I received. I am indeed grateful to God for His protecting care, for Christ Jesus, our Exemplar, and for our beloved Leader, Mrs. Eddy, who devoted her life to giving Christian Science to the world. I am also grateful for membership in The Mother Church and in a branch church, and for all the church activities which I am privileged to enjoy.
