When our son, now a graduate student in one of our universities, was between five and six years of age, an incident occurred, the memory of which still impresses me. One early spring afternoon, while the child was playing, he fell from a height upon an old board with his full weight on a rusty nail. Following the examples given in the Bible and in the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, we prayed immediately for healing. Jesus, who took everything to God in prayer, said, "I and my Father are one." The Christian Science textbook says (pp. 476, 477): "Jesus beheld in Science the perfect man, who appeared to him where sinning mortal man appears to mortals. In this perfect man the Saviour saw God's own likeness, and this correct view of man healed the sick."

About an hour later the boy could walk, though not entirely without limping. After dinner, when starting to use both feet to get up from the table, he was in such pain that it was necessary to carry him to bed. Again we lifted our thought to God in prayer, and then read aloud inspiring hymns. When the child heard these words from Hymn No. 269 in the Christian Science Hymnal:
