"Thou shalt love thy neighbour"

Well did Moses unfold to the people God's command, "Thou shalt not hate thy brother in thine heart. ... Thou shlat love thy neighbour as thyself: I am the Lord." The Apostle John declared: "He that loveth his brother abideth in the light, and there is none occasion of stumbling in him. But he that hateth his brother is in darkness, and walketh in darkness, and knoweth not whither he goeth, because that darkness hath blinded his eyes."

Hatred has no foundation in Truth. Hatred is a negation, a delusion, a negative quality, or, as the apostle says, "darkness." In "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" Mary Baker Eddy writes (p. 374), "Hatred and its effects on the body are removed by Love." Love will open our eyes and lead us into the sunshine of Truth.

When we diligently study the Bible and Mrs. Eddy's writings, we learn that to live is to love. Love is constructive, giving us a true understanding of Life as God, divine Love. When we understand God to be Life, Truth, Love, we also understand that God created man as His reflection, loving and lovable. When we prayerfully study the writings of our beloved Leader, we realize that we must reflect Life, Truth, and Love in spirituality, which is constructive, which purifies our thinking, and which inspires us and leads us into light.
