Signs of the Times

Topic: Neighborliness And Service

[Rene Dee, in the North Cincinnati (Ohio) Community News]

The greatest lesson of all times is that men and women should help each other. Everyone has his share of problems, but an expression of happiness and courage will lighten the burden of our neighbor. A kindly word costs little and will inspire the burdened one much. This bearer of good cheer needs no flags or trumpets to sound the word; yet it rings loudly to one so much in need of encouragement to carry on. By doing something good for someone we forget our own troubles and often they fly away from us because sorrow cannot exist where joy abounds. Cheerfulness is the world's greatest antidote to human misery. ...

In this world there can be no room for jealousy, hatred, cruelty because all have such important individual service to perform. Greater than the power of the human mind over matter is the power of spiritual thinking over the human and it is this fact which is particularly of great importance to destroy the distress of war. Satanic conditions no longer exist where such a service abides.
