I should like to swell the chorus of praise to God, the Giver of all good, for through the demonstrations of Christ Jesus and the consecrated, fruitful work of Mary Baker Eddy we have been shown how to grow out of a mistaken sense of self into a newer and uplifted freedom of spiritual enlightenment, and to know man in his true nature and relationship to God.
Because of the many blessings that have come to me and mine, I can bear witness to Truth in many ways, and it seems the timely thing to give praise for a recent experience regarding employment. For several years I had been trying to make a change in my work. During this time the loving help of a practitioner was asked for and received on this problem. I had had temporary work through this transitional period, but it was not in the field of activity that interested me most, and a depressed income was attached which was inadequate for a man of marital status. Regarding supply, Mrs. Eddy says in "Miscellaneous Writings" (p. 307), "Never ask for to-morrow: it is enough that divine Love is an ever-present help; and if you wait, never doubting, you will have all you need every moment." I can attest to the truth of these words, for during this time we did not lack any needful supply, and every time a bill was due, it was promptly paid.
One evening some friends who were clear-thinking, conscientious Christian Scientists came to dinner. The table talk was a spiritual feast. I noticed, during the next few days, that some of the unnecessary characteristics trying to attach themselves to me had begun to disappear as a result of this spiritual uplift, and on Friday, four days later, I was led by the "still small voice" to go over to the placement bureau of the university which I formerly attended, and where I had had my application on file for several years.
