In a recent article, your columnist writes inter alia: "I have also tried the Christian Science method and said to myself that toothache does not exist, that toothache is only imagination, but that did not help either. The toothache is there in a very acute form."

Many readers of your valued newspaper probably know that the Christian Science religion has an organization, spread over the whole civilized world. Christian Scientists practice the healing of primitive Christianity. The above-mentioned article misinterprets the Christian Science attitude towards illness, and an explanation may be appropriate.

Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, writes on page 460 of the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures": "Sickness is neither imaginary nor unreal,—that is, to the frightened, false sense of the patient. Sickness is more than fancy; it is solid conviction. It is therefore to be dealt with through right apprehension of the truth of being."
