Confidence

Students of Christian Science have the utmost confidence that right and justice will ultimately be made manifest in the great struggle now going on in the world. They have this assurance because they know that "the Lord God omnipotent reigneth," and that, as Elisha told his servant, "they that be with us are more than they that be with them."

Confidence and assurance, when posited upon a right understanding of God, are spiritual qualities which appear in individual consciousness as the omnipotence and omnipresence of infinite Mind are perceived. These qualities are realized individually, and are expressed in individual and collective experience as understanding unfolds in human consciousness.

While, to human sense, war and destruction are going on among the great and small nations of the world, and corruption, dishonesty, and graft seem to abound in many parts of the governmental structure, the Christian Scientist takes courage and goes forward with the calm assurance that John's vision of "a new heaven and a new earth" will be fulfilled and peace emerge from the seeming chaos.
