FROM LETTERS, SUBSTANTIALLY AS PUBLISHED

The article, "Is Man Immortal?" which appeared in the Times recently, contained a brief reference to Mrs. Eddy.

Jesus said, "It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing." Mrs. Eddy's teachings are in perfect accord with this statement, as is shown, for example, by this reference from her principal work, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 191): "The Science of being reveals man and immortality as based on Spirit." This shows clearly that Mrs. Eddy did not believe that matter or the material body had anything to do with immortality. That her teachings are practical and correct is shown by the health and happiness of her loyal followers.

Mrs. Eddy's published writings, as well as dependable biographies of her life, are available to the public at all Christian Science Reading Rooms and at most public libraries.
